to be invited into one's house of authenticity, vulnerability and wisdom, as you did with this piece, is a feeling hard to describe for me. to read this unfolding of awareness and insight, and get access to what is so very deep in your soul, for you to share this wisdom for the sake and benefit of all....stirs and awakens something in me. brings light to a blind spot, invites me to sit with my own ignorance and sorrow, my own unmasked vulnerability, and befriend the possibilities as scary as they are. Hi Melissa, amazing essay! Thank you for writing this, it is truthful, honest, vulnerable, and strong at the same time. Part of it I thought could be healed by what we learned in Yoga - self-worth, where we belong, bigger self v.s. smaller self, etc - but reality and facts cut really deep and it's bloody. You are right, we can't hide anymore. If we don't speak up and fight against any racist behavior and hate crime, nobody else can help us. Thank you for being brave and thanks for sharing! Big hug!
